Frame Installation Steps
The ceiling frame is the core structure supporting the PVC panels, typically consisting of main runners and cross runners. First, install the perimeter wall-mounted frames (side runners) to ensure they are perfectly level. Next, install the main runners at standard 120cm intervals, securing them to the overhead slab with hangers and expansion screws. Finally, add cross runners between the main runners to create a sturdy, uniform grid. Tighten all frame joints fully to ensure proper weight support and overall flatness.
PVC Panel Installation and Cutting
Cut PVC panels to fit the space before installation, taking care to make clean, even cuts. To install, tuck one end of a panel into the groove of the perimeter frame, then press the opposite end down onto the cross runners, using the flexible nature of PVC to lock the panel’s tabs into place. Work from a corner or the center outward to ensure tight, consistent seams and a smooth, even surface. If you encounter obstructions like pipes, pre-cut notches in the panels and use specialized edge trim to clean up the modified edges.
Wall Edge Finishing
Wall edge finishing is a critical detail that elevates the quality of your installation. Use PVC edge trim or stainless steel corner trim to cover the seam between the ceiling and walls. First apply a thin layer of white glue or silicone adhesive to improve bonding, then press the trim firmly against the wall to secure it. This step covers small gaps between the frame and walls, prevents dust buildup, and creates clean, polished overall lines.
Access Panel Planning and Installation
For easy future maintenance, reserve and install access panels in the ceiling. Choose locations that do not disrupt the overall aesthetic, such as corners or areas above existing equipment. Cut a custom PVC access panel, reinforce its edges with additional framing, then install it using hidden hinges or magnetic fasteners for simple, tool-free removal. Align the panel flush with the surrounding ceiling panels to achieve a seamless, unobtrusive look.
Final Inspection and Cleaning
Once installation is complete, perform a full quality check. First, verify that all panels are flat with even, level seams with no height differences between adjacent pieces. Next, confirm the frame is securely mounted with no wobbling or rattling sounds. Clean the ceiling surface using a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and fingerprints, and avoid using harsh chemical solvents that could damage the PVC. Allow the area to ventilate for several days to dissipate any residual fumes before regular use.
